Biography

Marie Pomponnelle, also known as Marie dit La Pomponnelle or Pomponnelle, was a Fille du Roi (King's Daughter).

  • Birth: Born around 1655 in Saint-Sulpice parish, Paris, Île-de-France, France.
    • Recorded Ages in Colony: She was recorded as 18 at the 1673 contract, 22 in the 1678 census, and 26 in the 1681 census, which supports an estimated birth year of 1655.
  • Parents: Daughter of Pierre Pomponnelle and Jeanne Le Cardier.
  • Migration: Arrived in New France in 1672 aboard the ship La Nouvelle France. She carried goods estimated at 300 livres for her dowry.
