Research Notes

  • Marie Godard’s status as a “fille à marier” (marriageable girl) is disputed. Her name does not appear in key emigration records.[6],[7]
  • Alternative theory suggests possible Indigenous Algonquin heritage.[8]
  • Inventory of Marie’s possessions conducted 30 October 1685
  • Toussaint had 323 documented descendants by 1729[19]
