Dit Name Origin (Antaya) The name is thought to derive from his first wife, Dorothée, a Native American woman, whose tribal group's name or a term related to her was recorded as Antaya or Antoya in official documents.
Exploration Participated in an expedition in 1661 with Fathers Gabriel Druillettes and Claude Dablon and Denis Guyon to find the northern sea (likely Hudson Bay).
Death Died sometime before May 30, 1688, when his wife is cited as his widow. The location is unknown.

2. Marguerite Madeleine Moriseau

  • Birth Daughter of Julien Moriseau and Anne Brelancour, from the parish of St-Pierre in Roye, Picardy, France.
  • Marriage Date: September 26, 1661, in the church of Sillery, Québec.
  • Witnesses: The ceremony was attended by the groom's father, Nicolas Peltier, and his brother, Jean Peltier, among others.

Seigneurial Ownership

  • Acquisition: François Pelletier and Marguerite Morisseau purchased the Seigneurie d'Orvilliers on October 22, 1675, from Philippe Gaultier de Comporté.
  • Name: The seigneurie later became known as Seigneurie d'Antaya.
  • Estate: Following François's death, the seigneurie was subject to extensive litigation and seizure proceedings due to his obligations, a conflict that was not resolved until 1724.
